What is the difference between a checking and savings account?
And if i have a large sum of money (in the thousands) where would it be smarter to be deposited in? How about a small sum of money(in the hundreds)?

The larger amount if you don’t plan to use it is better off in a savings account. If you will be using it frequently to pay bills, rent, tuition etc then I would put it into a chequing account. You will have cheques that you can use to make payments from that account.

Same for the smaller amount, if you are going to use it – chequing account. If you are going to save it – savings account.
