What savings would you propose to save the zoo if you were mayor of the city?

To answer this question, one would need to know the city's tax revenues, the zoo's budget, and the city's budget for other municipal services.

Perhaps the zoo's expenditures could be reduced by eliminating more expensive animals, or revenues could be raised by increasing admission fees. Perhaps monies could be diverted from other city budget items such as fire protection and reallocated to elephants. Perhaps additional taxes could be levied.

Or it may turn out that operating a zoo may not be the best use of city funds and that the zoo should either be closed or privatized.
